NetSeries Cannot Create New UsersProblemYour licence limits to you a certain number of users. For the purpose of this let us assume that you have a licence for 1,000 users. You have reached the licence limit, and so in order to fit in some new users you have deleted some old users. However, despite the fact that the find of users shows only 950 users, you keep being told that the licence limit has been exceeded and you cannot create your new users. CauseWhen you delete a set of users they are not removed immediately. NetSeries has a database that uses a rolling purge, and it will not delete anything until the purge time has elapsed (this is a period of time set aside in which an error can be recovered). To find (and set) the purge time setting you can log on as an administrator, press the Settings button and then the Service and Security button. The minimum setting for the purge time is one hour. Content records, user records and course records, as well as results, only get deleted once this time has elapsed. In fact, they do not even get deleted this quickly. NetSeries has a low-priority thread that undertakes the deleting work only if NetSeries has some spare time. Consequently, the user records only get deleted after the purge time has elapsed, and if the computer running NetSeries is not particularly busy. In summary, the problem is that you have marked some user records for deletion, but NetSeries has not yet deleted them, and this is why you cannot add any more users. To see how many user records are really in the database you can have a look at Settings->Serial Numbers. SolutionYou can just wait until the purge time expires. Alternatively, you can set the purge time to zero. This causes NetSeries to perform an immediate purge. |
